Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend as much as I am and you’re not dying with a hangover! I know I will be tomorrow more than likely, but hey! It’s gotta be done!
Today’s blog post is another in my interview series and this week it’s with the stunning Katie Andrew.
Katie started her fashion and lifestyle blog in 2017 after pondering over the idea since 2014.
The Ballyclare girl has taken the NI blogger scene by storm and is slowly but surely making a fantastic name for herself.
I got chatting to her about her own personal style, where she likes to shop and found out whether she prefers shoes or handbags. Since I started this series in January, that seems to be the hardest question for all my lovely interviewees! Haha! Let’s hear what she had to say…
Tell me about your blog? When and why did you set it up?
I started my blog in January 2017 after years of procrastinating. Originally, I had planned on setting it up when I was at university but final year work was too much on top of suffering from anxiety. My blog focuses on fashion, food and all things good.
What do you love about blogging?
I’ve found that blogging is a great way to get things off my chest. At times I treat it like a diary which is so refreshing and the response from my readers makes it all worth it!
What do you think of the blogging industry in Ireland at the minute?
I think that bloggers in the South have a lot more of a chance to work with amazing companies than bloggers in the North do. Dublin has seen a rise in the number of blogging events with the likes of Pretty Little Thing, H&M and top make-up brands flying over and inviting top bloggers/ influencers from Ireland. It would be amazing if more bloggers with a genuine following and influence from the North could be invited down.
How do you find juggling blogging and a full-time job at the same time?
To be honest, it can be difficult and tiring, but it’s all worth it in the end. It’s about finding a balance. Shameless plug, but I recently wrote a post about the 3 Ps of Blogging which can really help with juggling blogging and a full-time job –https://katieandrewtheblog.com/2018/07/14/the-3-ps-of-blogging/
A year and a half ago I started my blog. I can proudly and confidently say, it is the best thing I have ever done. After my years of procrastination and anxiety holding me back, I took the plunge.
Where do you love to shop?
I think “where do you not shop?” would be easier to answer! I don’t limit myself to shops…if I really like something, I’ll buy it, no matter where it is from. Right now, my favourite shops are; Topshop, Zara, Primark, Shein (online brand), ASOS…the list continues.
What’s your favourite trends at the minute?
Animal print is currently my favourite trend. I never thought I would say that, but I’ve embraced my inner Cat Slater! I’m also loving the Western Trend and think it’ll be perfect for winter.
Shoes or handbags?
Oh, that’s a difficult one…I’ll go with shoes.
Who are some of your favourite influencers?
There are soooo many!! I adore Love Lauren, Tash Oakley, Chloe Plumstead, Ropes of Holland, Monikh Dale, Elle Pearls, all the Derry bloggers, again the list continues!
What do you think of the blogging scene in Northern Ireland?
It’s growing rapidly! I’ve made some of my best friends from blogging. There’s a community spirit in Northern Ireland. I do worry that a lot of people call themselves bloggers but don’t own a domain/ website? As well as only starting blogging to get “free stuff”. I don’t think people realise that you have to do some work in return for gifts. I think that the bloggers that started blogs for the right reasons will continue and others will give up after a while.
Are you looking forward to Autumn wear or holding on to summer?
Summer in NI lasted a lot longer than usual so I thought I’d be holding on to it forever! Although, I’m so excited to wear warmer clothes and style some outfits for the latest Autumn/ Winter trends.
