Review: Chemical Peel at Clinic 15

Hi everyone and happy Monday! I hope you are all having a great Summer so far. Can you believe it’s August already?

While I haven’t been away anywhere this summer, I have been enjoying myself a bit too much, spending too much money and neglecting The Big F Word. How could I do that to my gorgeous and fashionable baby? I promise I’ll be better!

I’m FINALLY getting around to posting my review on a chemical peel I had last month at Clinic 15.

Clinic 15 is a relatively new beauty clinic based just outside Limavady. They use Alumier MD products, which are prescription only and can’t just be bought anywhere.

I was kindly invited out for a facial and after my personal consultation, Gaynor thought my skin would really benefit from a Glow Chemical Peel. I’m so glad she made this decision!

Because it’s not sold in chemists or online, you might not have heard of Alumier before. I’ll pop some more information about them below.

Alumier’s philosophy is that one size does not fit all when it comes to skin care and understands that everyone wants clear, beautiful skin.

With over 100 years of combined experience the PhD biochemists, physicians and skin care experts developed science based products delivering excellent results. We don’t just dust our products with expensive ingredients to make marketing claims. We research the optimal ingredients and concentrations enhanced with advanced delivery systems to create prescription strength formulations for a wide range of skin profiles. Treating dry, normal, combination and oily skin. Also treating skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, sensitive, and hyperpigmentation.”

There are a few different steps to the facial so I’ll explain each step individually.

To start the face is double cleansed using purifying gel cleanser -a ph balanced cleanser. It gently cleanses skin removing impurities and excess oil leaving it smooth and soft containing chamomile ,aloe, coconut and plant based surfactants to gently cleanse.

Next up is the balancing solution. It gently cleanses and prepares the skin for the peel containing lactic acid and citric acid to gently remove dead skin cells, contains witch hazel and burdock root which have antiseptic properties then cucumber and aloe to soothe the skin.

The third step is an enzyme retexturing treatment. It’s a highly effective but gentle resurfacing solution that combines fruit enzymes such as papaya, apple and citrus to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin renewal minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation.

The professionals call this the pac man layer as it gently breaks down and removes the dead skin on the surface.

Now it’s time for the glow peel itself.
This combines salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol creating a multipurpose resurfacing solution effective in minimising fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation like age spots and uneven skin tone.

It exfoliates the skin and stimulates cell renewal. The glow peel can be customised in strength up to a maximum of 4 layers delivering a medium medical grade peel the deepest of the Alumier peel range.

The peel is painted on the face and after a while you’ll feel it start to tingle. This tingling sensation will continue until you have reached a peak. On my first layer it was completely fine and I didn’t feel much discomfort at all.

I could handle 2 layers but I have heard of other people using 4 layers, everyone’s skin is different.

After the glow peel has finished it’s work, the treatment is finished off with a Vitamin A Boost and a Brightening Accelerator.

I can safely say my skin was glowing after the treatment, it felt amazing!

The glow peel isn’t actually washed off or removed from the skin, so over the next 5-7 days it continues it’s work and my skin started to peel. I didn’t experience anything too severe and some people might have very little peeling.

I didn’t start to properly peel until about day 5, and it was all over my face by then.

If you are considering getting a Glow Peel done, I would recommend getting it done at a time when you have nothing coming up. Thankfully I didn’t, so I didn’t have to worry about putting on make up over the dry skin.

You’ll also receive an after treatment kit to use for a week after your treatment. You’ll get an every day cleanser and moisturiser along with a total sunblock to protect your skin from harsh UVA rays.

Over all I absolutely loved the treatment and I would definitely recommend, especially if you have any skin problems such as scarring, acne or rosacea.

Follow Clinic 15 on Instagram for more information and I’ll leave the Alumier website handle here.

As always, thanks for reading and I promise, August will be a much better month for content.

Much love,

Naomi xo
