April Favourites: My Skincare Routine

Can you believe it’s May? We are five months into 2018 already, I can’t get over it! We said goodbye to April on Monday and with that comes my monthly round up of things I have been loving over the last 30 days. If you’re an avid reader, you will have noticed that I missed out March’s favourites, soz!

Last month I added a few newbies into my skincare routine and finally feel like I am really happy with my skin, so I thought I would just chat through it all as my monthly favourites.

I know some people don’t use any skincare products, and then there are others who just use baby wipes (which are supposed to be really bad for your face btw). Then you have people like me that have 10+ products and love spending time taking care of your skin. As much as I have a good few products in here, I never spend too much money on it because there are so many products out there that are on offer at really reasonable prices. I am on the hunt for a good serum and an eye cream, so if you have any recommendations, please leave me a comment below.

I love nothing more than a face wash to begin with, to get rid of the majority of make-up, dirt and grime off my face. I’m never too fussy when it comes to face washes and normally buy a new one every time but I have been using this L’Oreal one now for a few weeks and I really like it. It’s thick and creamy and feels great on the skin.

One of the most recent things I’ve added to my skincare routine is this wee exfoliating sponge. It is fantastic and realllllly leaves you feeling squeaky clean.

I was kindly gifted this Lavender and Lemon Cleansing Beauty Balm from Vee Beauty London last week and while I’ve only used it a handful of times so far, I absolutely love it!!

It’s made from entirely natural ingredients, smells incredible and is cruelty free (which is something I’m really trying to support at the minute). It comes with a face cloth, and after you have rubbed it into your face, you simply wash the excess off with hot water.

It’s got Vitamin E in it, which is great for the skin, along with Shea butter and eucalyptus oil. Check them out on Instagram to see more of their natural products.

I was never into toners, because I thought they were a bit pointless but I was told recently that no, I should definitley be including it into my skincare routine. I didn’t want to spend too much money on my first one so I picked up this Boots own brand version recently and I really like it. It’s got tea tree and witch hazel in it, which is great for keeping break-outs at bay and like the other products, really leaves your skin feeling super clean!

I have been dying to try a Glam Glow mask for ages now and I was so happy when I received this as a present from my work colleagues on my last day (they clearly knew me so well!). I couldn’t wait to get this on my face.

This is the tingle exfoliating one and I love it. I’ve used it three times now and my skin feels amazing after it. It definitely does tingle when you put it on, and you are exfoliating the skin when you’re removing it because its full of tiny sand-like bits.

I like to use a mask at least once, if not twice a week purely to feel like I’m pampering myself if nothing else! I love nothing more than whipping out a mask and a magazine and taking half an hour to chill the F out.

I’ve been using this once a week for over a month now and I really love it. It’s a liquid peel from The Body Shop and is another form of gently exfoliating the skin. I would have quite dull skin so I love getting rid of dead, dry skin and ensuring its as bright as can be.

So this is a bit of a touchy subject. If you watch my Insta-stories you’ll already be aware of my despair over this product.

So this Rodial Bee Venom moisturiser was part of a goodie bag I received for doing Foyleside Shopping Centre’s social media for a day recently. I only started using it recently as I was using up another moisturiser and I fell in-love!!! It’s the first moisturiser that I thought ‘I’m definitely repurchasing that’, because it actually changed my skin for the better.

I nearly had to be worked with when I looked it up online and discovered that it retails at £160!!!! Unfortunately I’m not made of money and that is definitely out of my price range for a face cream, I’m not sure who in their right mind would pay that but whatever!

I’m devastated and since I found out I’ve been using it like gold dust, holding on to my love for as long as I can.

Brow and Lash Oil

Vee Beauty London also sent me this brow and lash oil, which again is completely natural and made from oils. I love it! It feel so luxurious and while I can’t comment on whether or not it’s making a difference to the growth of my lashes or brows just yet, I can say it feels great and its definitely not doing them any harm.

My eyelashes wouldn’t be great so it’ll be interesting to see if it helps and I’ll do another review at a later date. I apply this at night time only, into the root of the lash and then pop some on my finger and massage into my brows.

Eye roll-on

This is a wee eye roll-on I use in the morning and to be honest, I’m not sure if it actually does anything but the cold roller on my big puffy morning eyes feels great. As I said before, I am on the hunt for an actual eye cream which targets fine lines and puffy eye bags, so if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them, leave me a comment below!

If you have any questions about any of the products, send me a message to any of my social media channels. You can find my Facebook here, Instagram here or Twitter here.

As always, thanks for reading!

Much love,

The Big F Word. X
