Hi everyone and welcome back to The Big F Word. I hope y’all are are having a lovely Saturday!
I’d like to introduce a new feature to the blog; Five minutes with…
Every week I’ll be chatting with the most stylish fashionistas, or self-confessed make up junkies from the North West, finding out all about them and their tips and tricks for success. If there’s anyone you’d like me to feature, please send me an email or leave a comment below.
My first interview is with the gorgeous Yasmin Robinson, the face behind the inspiring and colourful fashion blog, Snazzy Yazi.
Snazzy Yazi recently celebrated it’s first birthday and what a year it had. From gathering up almost 7K followers across social media platforms and being announced as one of Ireland’s top 60 bloggers, whatever Yasmin is doing, she’s doing it right!!
1. Describe your blog, and what made you start it up?
My blog is mainly fashion and style, I offer advice on what to wear for different events/occasions and also keep my readers up to date with the current trends. I added a new feature to my blog this year called Style Inspo where readers can send in their looks each month to feature on my blog.
I wanted to start my blog about 7 years ago, it was when I first found Tanya Burr and seen her as inspiration. I just didn’t have the courage to actually go for it until January last year.
2. Describe your personal style in three words.
Eclectic. Bright. Quirky.
3. Who would your style icon be and where do you look for outfit inspiration?
My absolute girl crush is Megan Ellaby. A Mancunian style blogger. Her style is flawless and so fun.
I adore Pinterest, I go on to find inspiration if I’m stuck for outfit ideas. I love street style looks. I don’t just look at ladies for inspiration, some men give me goals too. I LOVE David Bowie and Mick Jagger’s style in the 70s, and I’m also a huge fan of 90s fashion.
4. What are some of your favourite shops?
Primark/Penneys is always a favourite. Also Zara, Nasty Gal and we can’t forget Topshop of course! I’m a huge fan of Pippa Boutique in Derry too and also love a good vintage shop.
5. Are you a fan of accessories or do you like to let the clothes do the talking?
Accessories are a MUST! My motto is, Always wear one more accessory than what is needed.
6. Shoes or bags?
Ooooh… this is a tough one… Can I pick both?
7. Who are some of your favourite fashion bloggers?
Megan Ellaby, Emma Hill, Pippa O’Connor, Sophie Milner.
8. What’s your favourite/least favourite trends at the minute?
My favourite right now is the Hat trend. Baker Boys and Berets are my absolute go to!
My least favourite is Sportswear… I just can’t get on board with the tracksuit bottoms with the poppers down the side.
9. What’s your worst fashion faux-pas from over the years?
When I was 13, I had a phase of dressing like Avril Lavigne. The combat trousers with the tassles, the ties over vests and the fishnet gloves.. Thank god there was no such thing as Facebook back then!
10. What would your style tips be to anyone in a fashion rut?
Don’t worry about wearing clothes that are on “Trend”. Wear clothes because you love them and your own personal style will fall in to place.
I hope you picked up some tips and tricks from the effortlessly cool Yasmin, and I hope you liked the new feature. I’ll try my best to feature those ladies and gentlemen that you really want to read about.
