Come to the salon with me…

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoying the summer months. It’s so nice to get up in the morning and not have to think about how many layers I have to put on. 😂

This weeks blog post is little bit different than my previous posts, but I hope you like it all the same.

I was invited to Define Aesthetics Salon in Derry to trial a few treatments, and I thought I would blog about my time spent there. It will give you an inside into some treatments and my honest opinion on them.

I visited the salon on Saturday past  and had a Derma Planning facial. I have taken such an interest in skin care over the last few months, and when I booked in to have this done I was so excited, I had heard so many good reports!

The treatment itself isn’t that popular and a lot of people might be scared to try it, saying as there is a scalpel involved 😂 but I can honestly say I loved it and would recommend anyone to give it a go.

I wouldn’t have said I had the worst skin prior to my treatment, but it was dry, dull and congested, and I really just wasn’t 100% happy with it.

I loved my skin as soon as I got out of the appointment and I really dreaded having to put make up on later that day. There is no better feeling that being make up free and giving your skin a break.

The facial itself involved three main steps and it took just over an hour. Cornelia did my facial for me, and I honestly cannot recommend her enough. She was so professional and so friendly, I felt like I’d known her my whole life.

First things first was the scrapping of the skin with the scalpel. This sounds like something from a horror film but I promise you there was no blood involved! 😂

It removed all the dead skin that you just can’t get at with an exfoliater, I couldn’t believe how much skin came off my face!!

This was not painful or uncomfortable at all, like some people might think. It was actually quite relaxing and felt great to get rid of all that crap from my face.

Cornelia focused on my problem areas like my chin and forehead, and removed in grown hairs which I didn’t even know were there! She told me most people just think they have blackheads and it’s actually ingrown hairs around your hairline and cheeks, that you wouldn’t even know where causing you bother.

After this my skin was quite red, as expected, but that all calmed down before the appointment was finished.

The next step was the chemical peel. Cornelia brushed on glycolic acid all over my face, and set hot towels over me while I lay and relaxed for 15 minutes.

I could feel the acid soaking into my pores and it felt great, I thought I was going to get up, look in the mirror and see a 12 year old looking back at me. 😂

After the chemical peel, she removed the glycolic acid and then put on an ice mask to cool my skin down and close my pores back up again.

This felt amazing!! The cloth mask was straight out of the freezer and it felt so calming and cooling on my skin.

Cornelia then massaged my neck, while I lay for another 10 minutes or so, and I swear I did not want to get off that table.

I have heard of people getting this treatment done before, and there skin was quite red for a few hours after it, which is understandable, but mines wasn’t and I left feeling so fresh and ready to tackle the day!

It’s been three days now since my treatment, and I have really noticed a difference in my complexion. I had dry and bumpy patches on my forehead and that has now got significantly better. My skin is also a lot brighter and I would feel comforable not wearing make up.

If you are into skincare, or just want to treat yourself, I would highly recommend this.

It costs £65 but there is a deal on at the minute where you can get it for £35 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which is an amazing discount.

You can find the salon just opposite Foyleside, Derry, if you come out it’s 4th floor exit. I’ll post the salons details below, they also do other amazing deals.

I hope you liked this post, I’ll be working alongside Cornelia and the salon in the future so keep your eyes peeled for more beauty related content.

As always, thanks for reading and please subscribe if you like what you see.

Much love,

Disclaimer: I was invited to sample this treatment, and did not pay for it, but all opinions are 100% true and I am in no way paid to promote this salon.
